The Royal Knights Prologue by ~lyokan:iconlyokan:

The heavy rain poured from the clouds, the winds blew gustily, and the leaves of the trees near his house shifted with the wind. The clouds rolled past in a hurry. It was only a stormy night in the small town of Kisu. Kisu was a town in the Kayard Kingdom, but was unaffected politically by the Kingdom it resided in.
As the rain still poured and the thunder began to crack, there lay a house in the middle of the town, surrounded by several other houses and a forest surrounding the town. The only sound that could be heard, however, was the screaming voices inside. The house’s door opened and a teenage boy walked out; his look was concerning. He was around 16 years old, with blue hair which was spiked slightly up and had pure blue eyes. He wore a plain orange t-shirt which was covered by an unzipped grey coat and blue jeans which stretched down to his shoes. He had a few light scars on his face, and his hands were bruised to show a bit of red and violet near his fingers. The boy’s name was Neil Scryer. He simply put his bruised hands into his coat pockets, and began to walk into the stormy weather from his house’s front porch without any umbrella or a hood, looking up at the stormy skies and leaving Neil to become wet. He let out a heavy sigh as he walked eastbound on a long and narrow sidewalk, next to an empty street. Neil simply looked down as he walked, not letting any rain onto his face, as the rain made puddles on the street.
The town of Kisu was rather small; there were only several roadways and only one market in the town. What made Kisu notable throughout the world was its large church which lay a bit east of the town. Neil continued to walk as he approached the church. The church was a grand sight to see, decorated with two angels at the front entrance, and an angel above the door, these were the symbols of peace in the entire town. The church windows were also decorated with stone-flowers and pink/red colors. Neil reached for the door but stopped before his hand touched the handle. He stood at the door as if he were staring at another man. Neil remained silent, returning his hand to his coat pocket and began walking out of the town completely onto a hill. He had too much on his mind; day by day he grew more and more tired and weak of the pain and torment he had been through since he was born.
Neil was born with a demon sealed inside him. He didn’t know if what he was told was true, but this was the only explanation as to why everybody in town hated him so. Neil dropped to his knees half-way up the hill, next to a large tree, and noticed the gel holding up his hair had sagged and fallen onto his face. The rain continued to pour hard; it looked as if he was crying. He turned around and sat down, one leg stretched out and the other with his knee up. His head stared straight down into the ground, his body remaining motionless. The winds were easing up as a storm had passed, but he heard a bit of thunder in the distance. Moments passed as Neil remained in place, his mind racing with many thoughts. He tightened his fist, and relaxed it as if he were stressed.
The brutal rain had stopped immediately. He looked up as he saw an umbrella and a girl with similar blue hair, a white dress with blue outlines and green eyes; she wore glasses as well. He widened his eyes as Neil recognized the 14-year-old girl.
“Alena, what are you doing here?” Neil asked.
“I should be asking you the same thing,” Alena replied. Neil smiled gently, wiping his hair from his eyes he looked at her. Neil’s left leg was still in the rain as it was not covered by the umbrella. Before Alena spoke again, she stretched her arm out to pick up Neil from the ground. Neil took her hand, with Alena smiling back, pulling him up. Neil stumbled slightly, slightly surprised at her physical prowess.
“You must be having family troubles again.”
“Yes,” Neil scratched his head, standing under the umbrella with Alena on his left. He felt slightly more protected with Alena at his side. He felt a warm hand clench his left hand. Smiling and blushing slightly, Neil looked as Alena held his hand, gently interlocking their fingers.
“Follow me, you can stay at my house for a while,” Alena smiled and began to pull him along as both of them walked down the hill slowly, not letting them slip from the rain and the mud and loose rock that had resulted. They had walked towards the southeast side of Kisu; Neil’s house was located on the northwest side of Kisu. They reached a similar looking house to Neil’s, only this house had beautiful roses that lay in the front yard. Walking onto the porch, Alena opened the unlocked door and rushed him inside.
The house had more of a hardwood feel to it, with Neil drying off his shoes on the mat, and Alena closing the umbrella, putting it on a rack right next to the door. The house had a hallway that led to a kitchen on the left, with stairs leading upstairs in the middle, and an entranceway to the living room to the right. Neil shut the door behind him, water dripping from his fingertips.
“I haven’t been in your house in a long time. Are you sure it’s alright with your mother?” Neil stood and waited for Alena’s next command, like a dog.
“Yep,” Alena took his hand as she had undone her muddy shoes. “Wait right here.”
Neil blinked as Alena led him to the living room, sitting him down on one of the two white leather couches in the living room. Neil liked being babied a little, since he had never been taken care of by his mother or father. The living room barely had anything in it; there were a few stands with a lamp on it and the couches. Neil lie back against the couch and soon found himself being lifted up by Alena’s arms.
“Here,” Alena was sitting next to him, wiping Neil’s face with a small towel, smiling and blushing at the same time. She had tucked her hand behind his head, pulling it gently towards her chest. She placed the towel over his head and began rubbing against his hair, drying it from the rains outside. “At least you can properly stay clean.”
She spoke gently to herself as she dried him off. Neil couldn’t help but have a slight blush as well. He caught her hand as it was moving in a back-and-forth motion and moved the towel in the same motion. He had placed his hand over hers, and had slightly increased the pace. Alena then pulled the towel away from Neil. “There…all dry!”
Her voice had lost some of its softness due to the emphasis from Neil’s hand. Neil placed her left hand on his knee and placed his other hand on top of her left shoulder.
“Thank you,” he smiled gently again and bowed his head. As he tried to stand up, he was tackled in a hug-like form by Alena. Neil yelped like a dog as he found himself lying on the couch with Alena nearly on top of him.
“Oh no you don’t,” Alena had a slight smirk on her face and her voice increased in intensity. She softly giggled as Neil’s blush grew a bit bigger. He had never been so close to a girl before, not to mention Alena was his only friend.
“Oh, alright,” Neil smiled softly and then nudged Alena with his right leg. “Care to…share some elbow room?”
“Right,” Alena began to blush brighter as she had just realized what she was doing. Instead of getting off of him she rested her head against his chest and softly cuddled against his body like a cat. Alena let out a soft “Mmm,” as she continued to cuddle. Much like Neil, Alena didn’t get much support from her family, and was often physically abused by her father. Neil simply closed his eyes at this feeling. Alena’s glasses were falling off, and she almost fell into a small sleep. This peace did not last long as they both heard a knock from the front door. This knock caused Neil to open one eye. He didn’t want to move, and he had heard Alena slightly groan.
“Who in the world could that be?” Alena stood up and away from Neil, her blush and smile turning into frustration. She walked to the door, slightly stomping out of the living room. She turned the handle and opened the door. “What?”
Glancing at the man who stood before her, she suddenly stood up straight as a bald man in a black robe with a golden ring on his finger widened his eye.
“Alena, are you alright?” The man asked. Neil had stood up himself and walked around the corner.
“I recognize that voice,” Neil had ran to the door and stopped, standing by Alena. He smiled softly at the old man who stood before them. “Father John!”
Neil walked forward and hugged him, and John hugged him back. Alena was still upset, looking the other way.
“Sorry, Father…”
“It’s alright, I see…you two are getting to that age,” Father John responded as Neil and Alena blushed deeply.
“What…? We weren’t doing that!” Alena exclaimed. Neil turned around and looked the other way, unable to speak. Alena slightly panicked, jumping a bit in the place she stood.
“Well, I can’t see any other reason why you’d be so upset with Neil around,” Father John continued, “You two are best friends and no one understands you two more then each other.”
“Stop it Father!” Alena exclaimed again, continuing to blush. Father John simply laughed. Alena turned around and from the house attempted to tackle Father John. Neil laughed slightly, smiling with his face all red, and joined Alena in tackling John. John fell back onto the covered porch, grabbing them both and hugging them, and both Neil and Father John laughed. Alena continued to frown; upset that the moment was spoiled she refused to laugh and softly punched John. Standing up and rubbing his cheek where Alena had punched him, he spoke in a softer tone.
“I’m terribly sorry if I’m interrupting anything. I know Neil isn’t the type to flirt, or to have those ‘kinky moments,’ or whatever you kids call them. At the least, you were probably just cuddling on him like a cat,” Father John said. Neil and Alena looked at each other, and only Neil laughed.
“What is it that you want, Father John?” Neil walked towards him and bowed again. John sighed, feeling a bit rude for interrupting. He stared directly at Neil.
“I came looking for you, Neil. I had heard your parents screaming as I was walking by and I was worried. I was very busy and I finally grasped the chance to get out. Knowing you, I was positive you’d be out on the hills, and I spied you and Alena coming here together. I didn’t want to ruin anything but I guess I did after all. I guess I was just worried about you.” Father John smiled a little, and looked at the two of them. Alena angrily pushed John away from the door.
“Humph!” After pushing John away, Alena took Neil’s right hand again and pulled him inside. John laughed as he turned and prepared to return to the church, pulling up a hood and walking back into the rain. Alena slammed the door; she was even more upset than she was earlier. Her glasses were fogged and she turned, tripping on her pair of shoes she fell to the ground. Neil reached down to catch her but was too late in doing so. Alena’s left lends cracked, and she stood up, sighing. Neil had shifted in front of her, looking at the broken lends, and removed the glasses from Alena’s face. Alena’s eyes shifted around as she could not see anything without them. Her body began to shake and panic, nervous and shifty, and stood up right next to Neil to gain comfort. Shivering slightly, she felt Neil’s arms wrap her up and pull her close to his chest. His other arm moved down her back and softly touched her leg, wrapping her legs he lifted her up, carrying her. His other hand was holding the broken glasses. Walking into the living he set her down on the couch again, smiling, he examined the glasses, thinking of a way to fix them.
“Neil,” Alena stared blankly at the ceiling, her vision blurred. She felt uncomfortable as she could see Neil in her peripheral vision; afraid he might try and take advantage of her, even though she knew she could trust him.
“What is it, Alena?” Neil placed her glasses on the ground next to the couch and then sat down on the left side of the couch, shifting around, resting his chin on the couch pillow. Neil was only smiling at this sight.
“Neil,” Alena placed her hand on his head and softly ruffled his hair like a little kid. “Please, can you lay with me again? I don’t think I’ve felt happier then when in that moment.”
Both of their faces turned red. Alena scooted back and lay against the couch, giving enough room if Neil wanted to lay with her. Neil sat up fully as well, and nodded as he twisted onto his back right next to her. Alena smiled as she closed her eyes and cuddled close to Neil, and quickly fell asleep. Neil fell asleep too as the smile slipped away from his face. The peace lasted a few hours and into the early morning, until a strong voice woke them both up.
“Alena!”
Alena, who was rubbing her eyes, looked up at who had yelled at them. “Father…?”
Neil slowly stood up from the couch and asked in a mellow tone, “John is here?”
“Not Father John, my father!” Neil sprang up and looked at the tall man with rugged blue jeans, a white t-shirt, and a rough beard. He held a 9M rifle which was pointed at Neil. They both stared at him with fear in their minds.
“Get your hands away from my daughter, you demon scum!” At that moment, Neil’s attitude suddenly dropped. As if to snap, giving into the depression and pain he had felt all these years. Gripping his fist, he suddenly charged at Alena’s father.
“NO, NEIL!” Alena screamed as Neil ran. Alena’s father took aim at Neil and fired, and a gunshot was heard. It had missed Neil by a few inches, instead shooting through the floorboard.
“How the hell did I miss?” Alena’s father said to himself. Neil had launched a fist into Alena’s father’s jaw, knocking him straight back into the living room wall. The wall cracked a little, and Alena’s father fell dizzily. Quickly standing up and shaking off the dizziness, he looked very mad and narrowed his eyes at Neil. “Now you’re going to get it, kid.”
Alena’s father took careful aim at Neil and fired several shots, but none of them touched a hair on Neil’s body. Neil looked at Alena’s father with such anger and hatred that he charged and knocked him back once again with another strike from his fist, but an unusual amount of electricity was transferred from Neil’s fist, blasting Alena’s father back to the wall, cracking it further.
“NEIL,” Alena shouted again, completely shocked from what she had just witnessed. Is…is Neil really some monster? Alena thought to herself. Alena’s father remained unconscious against the broken wall. Neil’s eyes brimmed with such strong hatred, and the air around them began to become thick. Neil gasped for air and fell to his feet, wandering what just happened, and how he managed to avoid being hit by the shots fired by the rifle. He turned around and looked at the frightened Alena, and began to shake. After catching himself against the wall, he instantly darted out of the living room, opening Alena’s front door and running out.
“Neil, wait!” Alena remain in shock of what happened, and stood in her place. The rain had stopped, and the clouds had broken up with a cold gust occasionally pushing him. Neil ran as hard as he could, running, running as fast as he could to get away from the town. Running straight up the hill and beyond, he never turned to look back, never spoke a word on his way. He didn’t know where he was running to, but anywhere was better than Kisu. Eventually he began to tire, and fell down onto his knees. Neil’s body completely collapsed, exhausted from the tension. Everything around him grew dark as his own vision began to fade away.

Neil opened his eyes slowly, finding that he was no longer in Kisu, or anywhere near. His body was stuck in a veil of water, but he wasn’t drowning. He looked where he could look, directly in front of himself and saw many older men in white coats and glasses. There were scientists moving all about, doing so many unfamiliar things. He was in a laboratory of some sort, and was surrounded by computers everywhere. The whole laboratory was blood red, and even the scientists’ white coats began to reflect back the red light. Neil then heard a sinister voice speak.
“Aw, you’re awake? That’s a shame. You should have remained asleep, Volt, and now you’re going to be in a world of pain,” the blond-haired scientist that spoke to him stood in front of the container, tapping on it. “Aw, you look confused, dear boy.”
The same scientist pulled out a small mirror, and showed it to Neil. Neil was fully naked, from head to toe, but one thing caught his eye: he saw the word Volt imprinted on his right arm. Volt… Neil thought to himself as he looked at his arm in the reflection of the mirror. His body was too weak; it was numb, and he couldn’t move at all, and couldn’t even show signs of emotion or speak. What is happening to me, what is going to happen to me?
“Volt, are you familiar with the legend of Xaradian?” Neil couldn’t reply to the scientist; he only stared blankly at him. “Well then, I’ll skip right to the point. We are scientists as you have probably figured out, or maybe you thought we were doctors. We’re going to open the seal for you, and set you free from your life.”
Neil’s eyes widened at how much the scientist knew about his life.
“That’s right, we know all about you; your mean and cruel parents, your beautiful friend Alena, and your beloved Father John. We know how a demon was sealed into your body at birth, Xaradian was its name, and we’re here to set you free from that demon. We even saw you beat up poor Alena’s father,” he began to smirk. “Don’t worry about free will, Alena probably thinks you’re just some freak, and will never want to see you again, so if you think you’re missing anything then you’re just being stupid. Father John has more then just one person to worry about.”
The scientist’s words had made Neil feel more horrible than he already was. Neil only closed his eyes at the thought.
“Good boy,” the scientists suddenly picked up their pace. The watery substance that Neil was in began to increase in heat. Neil’s body began to grow hotter, and hotter. Calm down, if you panic, it will only hurt more. All six scientists had moved to the back of the container, seeing a strange Japanese-like symbol forming on his back.
“There it is!” One scientist exclaimed.
“It is true!” Another one said.
“I’ve never seen anything like that before.”
“It is time.” The original scientist said.
The container began to fill with electricity as Neil’s body slowly became engulfed in light. On a monitor right next to the container, several charts and programs showed the life, energy and stamina rates of Neil. Everything was going fine, until…
Help me…it…it hurts…I’m changing…what’s…happening… The lights began to flicker, machinery shut off, and the harsh light slowly faded away. Everything began to shut off, and only darkness resulted a few seconds later. The scientists were scared, standing back from the container.
“No! If everything shuts off, then Volt will...” The scientist was interrupted by the shattering of glass. They all began to panic, and one of them screamed, and a crushing sound was heard. The lights had returned on and one of the scientists lay against the ground, dead from a forceful punch. A red glow emitted in the dark room. The other scientists, including the original one, began to back away from the odd creature.
“What is happening?” One scientist said.
“Have we released Xaradian?” Another murmured.
“The hypothesis was supposed to be correct!”
Neil came into view, as the right half of his body was unlike anything human. The demon half was a golden-to-yellow skeletal-like system, with a yellow eye color and a red pupil in the middle. Neil’s body could be heard shifting around; the scientists stared with great fear.
Raising his right hand, the skeletal-like hand released several bolts of lightning, raining down as if rain falling from the sky, targeting one of the other scientists; the bolts had killed him instantly. Neil disappeared, leaving the place dark again, and then reappeared with a brighter red glow, stabbing through his back and straight into his heart.
The four remaining scientists began to run, trying to exit. Neil, still controlled by Xaradian, removed its hand from within the scientist’s dead, bleeding body and turned its head towards the other scientists. His eye glowed brightly, and he almost moved at such great speed, it was if he was moving at the speed of light. Blocking the way of several scientists, it struggled to speak.
“I am,” Neil’s breathing was incredibly loud, and his words sounded more demonic. “I am going to kill you all!”
Neil’s arm suddenly cut through one of the scientists he had blocked. The other three tried to run, but Neil grabbed another’s face with his normal hand and began gripping so tight. Electricity released from his hand surged through the man’s body, instantly killing him. Turning around with a spin, his skeletal leg pierced through the other scientist like a bullet.
From that moment on, Neil’s demon was uncontrollable. Nothing could stop its onslaught and destruction. Neil moved at such speeds that nothing could escape. He began running at such great speeds toward the last scientist, the original one, the one who had taunted him. The resulting electrical backlash by his speeds had caused a power overload in the systems, which then started a fire in one of the computers. It would erupt in an explosion soon enough, but even then the massacre hadn’t stopped. Blood dripped from both hands on Neil’s body as he stopped at the remaining scientist. He let off a sinister smile as he eyed the scientist, but before Neil could kill the last scientist, the power overload had caused sparks to fly everywhere, one of them hitting Neil in the back. Xaradian’s work had been done for him as the systems exploded, setting the place ablaze.

Neil was found by Father John, lying naked against the cold, hard ground, far from where the scientists had hid their lab. Neil’s body was emitting a lot of electrical sparks from his whole body.
“Neil?” Father John ran toward Neil’s body, and picked him up like a baby. Despite the occasional shocks, Father John was able to walk with Neil in his arms. “What…what has happened to you?”
Father John stumbled a lot because of a balance loss due to the electrical shocks, but he was able to walk down the hill nonetheless. A silent, light rain accompanied him as Father John began to rush faster to town. As he approached the town of Kisu, Father John saw some of the townspeople gather outside one of the two exits of the interlocked gate that surrounded the town. The worry of the townspeople soon faded when they saw Father John carrying the limp body of Neil in his arms. Unlike most times when he was happy to see the townspeople, he was very serious.
“Move, people, move!” Father John scowled.
The townspeople backed to form a path for Father John to enter into the town. They began to whisper among each other. Some townspeople had even witnessed the electricity emitting from Neil, and became horrified. Alena was amongst the townspeople, standing in front of the crowd, in fear of what had happened to Neil. John only rushed by her, only nodding, with fear present in John’s eyes too. Alena nodded back, feeling relieved, as she stood in the same spot, watching John carry Neil to the church.
Father John had finally approached his church, with the rainwater dripping from the angel decoration on the front of the church. Kicking the door open with his foot, he went inside as the townsfolk watched John enter with Neil in his arms. When the door had shut, the Candelabra had lit up across the ceiling, the silent flames danced atop the countless amounts of candles that dangled from the ceiling, and the rows of seats illuminated brightly. John went straight to the backroom of the church on the left of the church, and in there was simply a bed and a dresser drawer in that room. John placed Neil on the bed, and noticed that his body had stopped emitting electricity, and that his pulse and breathing had calmed down to normal levels. However, Father John had noticed something that he had not seen before: a severe burn on Neil’s back.
Father John reached into the drawer and pulled out a small pair of pajama pants and placed it onto Neil, as well as a white t-shirt that he had pulled out from another place in the drawer. Afterwards, Father John picked up the unconscious Neil and a small bed pillow and took him back to the main church room. In the main church room lay an organ at the end of the hallway. He placed the sleeping Neil on the bench and then lifted his head and slid the pillow under it. John’s intentions were that Neil was very skilled at the organ, despite playing the music that John disliked. Father John sighed, walking to the main seating area of the church, and playing with his fingers while showing anguish in his face.
Hours slid by, with John never leaving that row, and not wanting to either. The sad and depressing song of the organ soon played, much to John’s ironic excitement. The sounds of the organ flowed throughout the church in a hurry. John quickly stood up from the row and went straight to the organ and Neil in general. The look of excitement on his face soon faded as he saw Neil’s body weaving slightly around in dizziness. Neil also played with his head tilted downward, this worrying John even more. Neil would always play music by staring into the Red Bouquet against the organ pipes. John could feel Neil’s tremendous sadness echo through the notes that he played. Neil’s hands moved and matched the notes of the song perfectly and flawlessly, with his skill increasing just by being depressed.
“He…is getting better,” John murmured to himself, slowly approaching the bench in which Neil sat on.
“I don’t remember what happened,” Neil said. John stepped back, startled at Neil’s sudden words, and the abrupt end to the music. He turned around and looked at John straight in the face. A deep silence darkened the air around them, with Neil’s face trailing away from John slowly toward the ground, then raising his head immediately at John.
“Tell me,” Neil stood up, almost screaming. He looked at John with misery. “What the hell is Xaradian?”
John sighed. “What happened?”
“There were a lot of scientists…”
“’Scientists’?” John moved over to Neil; both of them sat on the bench with each showing worry. “Can…you tell me more about this?”
Neil sighed, moving his arm a little to make room for John. The seal was exposed, and this had caught John’s eye. “’Volt’? What did they do to you, Neil?”
“They told me what they knew about me. They told me everything. They even thoroughly explained it to me, what I really am,” Neil said. John gripped his hand tightly.
“Xaradian,” John began, as Neil looked up at him, “was once a terrifying demon, whose size could block the light of the sun. Xaradian was one of the few demon gods in existence: the demon-god of thunder. This demon, despite his large size, could control magnetism, the flow of electricity, and the very skies itself. His golden-skeletal-like body dazzled brightly as it would crush all who would oppose it.”
“That…that thing is sealed within me? How come I’ve never heard the legends of these demons?” Neil demanded.
“It’s simple. They’re all gone.”
“What?!” Neil screamed.
“That’s right,” John said with a voice that was lighter, “Xaradian…Lemade…and all of the other ones that had existed have disappeared off of the face of Sylindra. Well, not all of them at least, one of them is sealed within you.”
“Father…” John blinked and looked at him, and before he could speak, Neil motioned his arm to the side and held his hand out. Electricity swerved around his fingers and when they reached his fingertips, a short bolt of electricity shot out at high speed towards the wall. “I want to prove them wrong.”
Neil was smiling as he looked up at John, his eyes full of vigor and confidence. “I want to show them that I can do good things with my gift!”
John was certainly amazed at this sudden outburst, his eyes widening and motioning back a little.
“Neil,” John stumbled, “You’ve never chosen the seal as a ‘gift’ before.”
“I realize that, with this power,” Neil was gesturing with his arms, “there is much I can do for the world. The scientists...they explained that Xaradian could take over me based upon negative influences within my mind. I don’t want that to happen, and although I don’t remember it, I can still hear the screams of the scientists that were murdered earlier…murdered by my hands!”
John simply displayed a light smile on his face.
“Well then, my boy, it’s time you learned some geography,” John started, with Neil looking blankly at John, trying to figure out what he was talking about. “If you want to help others, you won’t be able to do that by staying in Kisu, you’re going to have to visit the other countries as well, such as Kegato.”
“Kegato…” Neil looked at him in confusion before snapping back. “Isn’t that where you come from?”
“Yes it is,” John looked at Neil with a slight smile, “you will see someone there who is a lot like you…his name is Sky.”
“Sky…?” Neil pulled up the sleeve on his arm and glanced at the seal. Father John stood up and patted him on the spot where Volt was inscribed.
“You wish to start anew, don’t you?” Neil looked up at John and nodded slightly. “The name that is inscribed on your arm…you wish to take that as your new name?”
“I must toss away the name Neil. If I don’t, I’ll never forget the cruel words everybody spoke of me,” Neil sat back down on the bench and ran his own thoughts to his mind. He was pondering; searching for an idea in his head. John sat beside Neil and nodded slightly to himself and also thought for a moment.
“What about Alena, Volt?” John asked. Neil jumped in a bit of surprise at what John had just called him, and the question he had just asked.
“As much as I don’t want to, I’m going to have to get her out of my mind too,” Volt closed his eyes in a bit of more thought, “I have to forget everything about this accursed town…well, almost everything.”
Volt looked up at John with a slight smile.
John smiled back and sat up on the bench. “You’re going to forget this old thing, aren’t you?” John patted the side of the organ softly with his right hand. Volt stared blankly at John.
“Well, I don’t want to forget that though,” Volt frowned slightly and looked at John.
John only laughed. “I’m joking, Volt! Of course we can take it with us.”
“I guess this means we’re traveling, aren’t we?” Volt sighed. “I have nothing to pack, so everything is up to you.”
John stood up and walked towards the door of the room. “All right…we’ll leave tomorrow morning, as I do not have much to pack either. For now, Volt, just sleep in my room, and when you wake up everything will be ready and we’ll depart early in the morning so nobody will know.” John turned around and stared at the door to the main church. “I’ll have a little note prepared for the townspeople and leave the church in the hands of Father Ray.”
Volt nodded and sat up, stumbling to a door on the opposite side of the room where John was. The room was rather empty except for a bed and a small stool with a clock on it. The time read 10:32pm, and Neil threw himself onto the bed. Not even bothering to grab the covers, Volt fell right to sleep.
The room was dim and John’s shadow was seen from across the hallway, but it soon diminished into the light. John walked into his room on the opposite side of the church, a room which was well decorated with many different kinds of animal and mythical creature ornate. John rubbed his eyes, but before jumping down onto the bed like Neil did, he reached behind a dresser drawer and pulled out a gray rectangular box. Placing it on top of the dresser, he then searched one of the drawers. John pulled out a curled-up map and placed it on top of the box, then using a rubber-band to tighten it together.
“See you in the morning, Neil.” John stretched and slipped into his bed covers and quickly fell asleep, peacefully like Volt. Hours passed as the sky remained dark, before long a glint of light hit the window in Volt’s room as the sun slowly rose into the sky, bringing forth a new day, a new start and a new chance at redemption for Volt.
